3 Common Reasons HVAC Ducts Need Cleaning

During a duct cleaning service call, AirCare cleans and sanitizes your ducts with specialized equipment. We then apply a biocide that inhibits any contaminant growth for up to 6 months.

You should consider having your air ducts in your home cleaned if:

  • Mold Growth – Mold growth inside a home is not normal, and the source of the moisture must be stopped to prevent the growth. A sour smell could also indicate mold growth.
  • Ducts are Infested with Pests – Roaches, rats and other pests inhabiting ductwork can cause the spread of disease causing bacteria and irritants to spread throughout your home.
  • Ducts are Clogged – It takes a significant amount of debris to clog a duct, but it has been known to happen. Ductwork that is damaged should be immediately be repaired or replaced.
  • Personal Preference – You may want to have your air ducts cleaned just because it seems logical that air ducts will get dirty over time and should be occasionally cleaned.

If you have insulated air ducts and the insulation gets wet or moldy it cannot be effectively cleaned and should be removed and replaced. Whether or not you decide to have the air ducts in your home cleaned, preventing water and dirt from entering the system is the most effective way to prevent contamination.

HVAC System Maintenance Agreements

Cleaning heating and cooling system components (e.g., cooling coils, fans and heat exchangers) have been proven to improve the efficiency of your system, resulting in a longer operating life, as well as energy and maintenance cost savings. In addition, most manufacturers warranties require that routine maintenance be performed. Many sections of your heating and cooling system may not be accessible for a visible inspection. By calling us for an AC Inspection and Maintenance, we can inspect your system for issues and provide any needed maintenance to it’s parts.
